How Custom Racing Simulators Work: The Premier Sim Racing Build Process

Building a world-class sim racing setup is more than buying parts. Here's exactly how Premier Sim Racing designs, builds, and installs custom simulators nationwide.

How Custom Racing Simulators Work: The Premier Sim Racing Build Process

If you’ve been researching custom racing simulators, you’ve probably noticed that the process varies widely from company to company. At Premier Sim Racing, we’ve refined our build process to make it straightforward, transparent, and tailored to each driver — whether you’re in Naples, Florida or anywhere across the United States.

Here’s exactly how it works.

Step 1: Consultation — We Start by Listening

Every build begins with a conversation. We offer consultations by phone, email, in-person at our Naples showroom, or video call — whatever works best for you.

During the consultation, we focus on three things:

  • Space — How much room do you have, and how does the simulator need to fit into it?
  • Driving style — What type of racing do you want to simulate? GT, formula, endurance, rally? This shapes everything from pedal choice to cockpit geometry.
  • Budget — We work across a range of investment levels and will always be honest about what delivers the best value at your price point.

From there, we recommend one of our three build tiers — the Spec Edition, Endurance Edition, or Signature Series — or a fully custom configuration built around your exact requirements.

What Goes Into a Premier Sim Racing Build

Every simulator we build is assembled from components we’ve personally tested and stand behind. Here’s what goes into a complete system:

Direct-Drive Wheelbase

The wheelbase is the heart of the simulator. We carry one of the most comprehensive direct-drive wheelbase lineups available from a single US retailer, spanning multiple brands and torque levels:

  • Simucube — The benchmark in direct-drive performance. We carry the full Simucube 3 lineup (Sport 15Nm, Pro 25Nm, Ultimate 35Nm) as well as the Simucube 2 Sport and Pro for buyers seeking proven performance at a strong value.
  • Simagic — A compelling alternative with a distinct force feedback character. The Alpha Evo lineup spans 9Nm to 28Nm, offering strong options for drivers at every level.
  • Asetek SimSports — A strong option for drivers who want direct-drive performance with a focus on accessibility and ecosystem integration. Asetek’s wheelbase lineup delivers clean, precise force feedback at a competitive price point.
  • And more — Additional direct-drive options across a range of torque outputs, giving us the flexibility to match the right base to your budget and driving style without compromise.

During your consultation, we’ll help you identify which wheelbase best matches your cockpit, pedal setup, driving discipline, and budget. Browse our full wheelbase collection to compare options.

Steering Wheel

We configure wheels to match your driving discipline. A round GT-style wheel is our standard, but formula-style wheels and quick-release systems are available for drivers who want discipline-specific setups.

Pedals

Pedal choice has a bigger impact on lap times than most drivers expect. We offer load-cell, pneumatic, hydraulic, and active pedal options. Our sim racing pedal collection includes options from Simucube, Simagic, and SimRacing-Pro — the Spanish manufacturer whose pneumatic pedal kits we sell exclusively for the US market.

Cockpit & Chassis

Rigidity is non-negotiable, especially if you plan to add motion later. We build on aluminum extrusion chassis that are stiff, modular, and motion-ready. Seats are selected for both ergonomics and immersion — from performance bucket seats to options with integrated haptics and cooling.

Monitors

Single ultrawide or triple-screen configurations, sized to your space and field-of-view requirements. We handle the mounting, calibration, and alignment so your visual setup is as accurate as your hardware.

Motion Systems

Motion simulation is rapidly becoming the standard in high-end builds. We are partnered with Vero Motion — one of the most refined and controlled motion systems available — along with other motion and haptic options through our Motion & Haptics collection.

PC

Every build includes a purpose-built sim racing PC with current-generation CPU, DDR5 RAM, fast NVMe storage, and a 50-series GPU. No bottlenecks, no compromises.

Software & Games

We configure iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and Automobilista 2 as a starting point, along with all necessary sim racing software, calibration tools, and remote support access.

Step 2: Build

Once the configuration is confirmed and the order is placed, we source and assemble every component. We communicate throughout the process — if a part is on backorder or a lead time changes, you’ll hear from us before it becomes a problem.

Every build is assembled, wired, and tested before it leaves our hands.

Step 3: Testing & Calibration

Before delivery, we run every system through a full hardware and software test. Force feedback is tuned, pedal curves are calibrated, motion settings are dialed in, and ergonomics are set to a baseline that works for your body measurements and driving position.

If anything isn’t right, we fix it before it ships — not after.

Step 4: Delivery, Installation & Lifetime Support

We ship nationwide. Once your simulator arrives, our team comes to your location — home, garage, office, or commercial space — and handles the full installation. We unpack, assemble, position, and configure everything on-site.

Installation includes:

  • Cockpit assembly and positioning
  • Monitor mounting and alignment
  • Wheel, pedal, and seat adjustment for your driving position
  • Software setup and game configuration
  • A 2–3 hour walkthrough so you understand every aspect of your system

When we leave, you’re ready to race. Not ready to figure it out — ready to race.

Support That Never Ends

Our relationship doesn’t end at installation. As long as you own your Premier Sim Racing simulator, we’re here. Whether you have a question six months after delivery, want to upgrade a component two years in, or need help troubleshooting a software update, you can reach us by phone, email, or video call — the same way we started.

No support tickets. No automated responses. No expiring warranties on our time. Just direct access to the people who built your simulator, for as long as you own it.

That’s a level of after-sale support you won’t find from a parts retailer or a big-box sim racing store. It’s one of the most important reasons our clients choose Premier Sim Racing over buying components individually.
